Although therapies such as acupuncture and hypnosis have become popular "alternative" ways to try to quit smoking, there is no clinical research to support the effectiveness of these therapies. The U.S. Public Health Service does not recommend these treatments and suggests that any effect is most likely due to a positive expectation that the therapy will help (placebo effect).
